It is now May 2013. Just turned. Thinking back to previous Mays…last year this month began a very difficult period in my personal life, that has since passed…two years ago I moved ISA out of the location it had called home for over 10 years…three years ago I began the process of getting to know someone, and myself, in a whole new way. Lots of change. Self-created, drastic and meaningful change.

This has made me begin to string together moments of memory…Recently I heard a woman speak sadly of having to wait 2 years , when she doesn’t want to. I then remembered dreading the idea of going back and completing my BA degree, thinking that two years more school would be unbearable. I then remembered my mother encouraging me to do it because “the two years is going to pass anyway, you might as well have it complete when it comes.” Another woman told a story this week about the recent self-healing of an issue that began over 35 years ago as a child. With the coming of May, I decided that a part of me who has been in the background as long as I can remember, now needs to be more visible. These things do not necessarily go together, yet they are all about the changes that happen over a period of time, whether we want them to or not, and whether the passed time seems like a second, or forever.

I am open to what this May will bring…I have recently intuited an affirmation to resonate. It is this… “I joyfully draw to me everyone and everything that I need to help me be of service, and be my best Self.”

Blessings to you and your May :),

Hello all!

While organizing writings from past journey circles (my writings and many others), I found a paper with the following written on it~

“A place to grow
and to just Be
A place to expand abilities
A form to the formless
for the Shes, Hes and In Betweens
A niche to fill the need
of sacred Ancestry.”

I have been thinking about ISA (Institute for the Shamanic Arts) and Earth Web Media lately. It is early April, and I now find this paper regarding what “it” is supposed to be. I speak of “it” because I feel that something is to be born of me in this life. Not a human, but a meme. Every since I was called to shamanize I have been sent signs, messages and downloads that something is being born and I am a part of it. Many people are.

I have felt this strongly in the last couple of months, and I have been extra open to what that looks like, and what it wants, specifically in relation to ISA and EWM. Today I find this paper and I feel it describes well what is happening, slowly over time, for and with those who feel it. Not everyone feels it, this is something that has been taught to me, as I have progressed, and I am grateful for it. For those who feel “it”, there is solace here (wherever “here” really is :)).

So I turn the paper over, and here is what is written on the other side…

“June 2012
In 9 months from now
I shall see
The birth of new creativity
Seeded today
by Live Energy”

Blessings to all who are consistently growing!

I have been making videos since the early 2000′s. Before high speed internet and YouTube. In 2006 I created my first YouTube channel, and called it Quynn Fynn. I had heard a voice in my head in the year before that whispered in a sing-song way “When you listen to the wind, you hear fynn.” I have since uploaded many (84 and growing) videos to this channel. I also converted some older videos of my Access TV series called “The Wanderer”. This is the first video I uploaded to this channel…

In 2011 I went through many changes and was suddenly unable to access this channel. So I let it rest for a while. I created a channel for Earth Web Media and uploaded there. When I feel a door closes, I work with other doors, and wait for it to open (or for me to figure out how to open it). The last day of winter, March 19, 2013, was the day the door opened. I can’t tell you how many times this has happened. Something isn’t working, and then one day, kablam! It works. I realized that I had not uploaded a video since Veteran’s Day 2011, so, I listened for a story to tell, and one came to me. I want to share it with you now- Enjoy!

Quynn Fynn, storyteller, is back in the web. Find out more about shamanizing at www.shamanworld.com

This last Saturday I hosted the ISA (Institute for the Shamanic Arts) Healing Arts Booth at the 2013 Tucson Peace Fair. 4 Practitioners, and myself, offered short sessions for people that day. Stone Readings, Card Readings, Labyrinth walking, Energy Work, and activities for children were offered. It was a fine time!

For the first time, some drummers from ISA offered a drum journey for Unity Consciousness for the entire fair. I had the opportunity to speak to the audience for a few moments and I chose to share my feeling that each of us has a birthright, a personal connection and relationship with our inner world, spirit guides, and that which is often called God and/or Spirit. I also invited people to participate by sharing their energy, rather than simply observe.

As we drummed and rattled, we could feel people observing…however, as we continued our consistent beats, more and more people came down to us to dance, and they began to give in to the rhythms. They closed their eyes, they swayed, their energy softened. We could feel it. By our ‘end’, people weren’t ready to end. It continued for a while longer, people in Joy and Peace, smiling, and feeling connected to each other and the world around us all, and within each of us.

Peace, see you next year!

A week ago I had the opportunity to be the videographer for a family wedding. I don’t do this often, actually only once before, for the same family two years ago. These weddings were different than a typical American wedding. The family comes from Bhutan, Hindu refugees resettled in Tucson, AZ. It was an honor to watch their ceremony unfold all day, and to watch the people present be able to freely exercise their religion.

As a person who is an Animist, I looked for similarities in the prayers and offerings of other faiths, even when I can not understand the language. Just a few similarities I noticed were: offerings to Ganesha (a very important deity in Elephant form), to the four directions, elaborate altars, ceremony outside, a fire in the center of the altar, singing prayers, chanting, call and response, using water to cleanse…many similarities!

Thanks and congratulations to Purna, the proud father of the bride, for asking me to do this ‘job’, because it gave me insight into something deep and meaningful. Congratulations to both families as well!

This lovely photograph of the glowing crystal was chosen to be the representative for “Stone Wisdom”, a Healing Arts Series by The Institute for the Shamanic Arts during this year’s Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson, February 3-17 2013. As I created this simple poster, I stared at the circular glow and remembered the moment when I took the photo. On the poster says “Stone Wisdom”, and the photo is of a crystal. The story of the photo links the two.

I acquired this crystal shortly after I began my shamanic life. Not long before, I had a profound experience that opened up my spirit world and called me to shamanize. I liked the crystal because of a smaller than dime shaped phantom inside. When I tilted the crystal this way and that, I could catch the rainbow luminous colors in the middle. Honestly, I have not used it much in my shamanic work, yet I have never given it away, or forgotten where it is. It has traveled with me from town to town and from house to house. It is MY crystal.

During the summers of 2000-2010 my partner and I explored the public lands of the western United States. We packed everything up and lived out of a van, finding legal places to sleep in national forests, state land, and when we had to, rest stops. In the summer of 2010 we traveled thru Montana. When we were around Butte, my partner (who is the map reader because he always finds interesting places) saw a little note on a map about Ringing Rocks. We drove off the highway and up a two track road to find this place.

Our older van told us where to park, which would be our camping spot. We continued up the steep road to find these things called Ringing Rocks. I didn’t know what I was looking for. Finally, up at the top of this small mountain, was a strange outcropping of rounded rocks. I didn’t know what to do, but my partner did. He picked up small stones and began to hit the rocks. Each one had a ringing tone to it, and they were all different.

I recorded him playing an improv tune here.

We spent a few wonderful hours with those stones. Absolutely awe inspiring! As the sun got low, we decided that we needed to head back to the van to prepare for the night. I remembered I had my crystal in my pocket. I took it out and it seemed very vibrant. I held it up and turned it just so, and the phantom began to sing with light! It was so beautiful! I had this crystal for years, and never knew it could do what I was seeing in that moment. I knew then that the ringing rocks activated this beautiful light, causing this crystal to sing its vibration. I immediately took out my camera and was able to take this photo before the setting sun caused the singing light to dim. The moment passed, the memory has remained.

Every crystal, rock, stone, pebble, mineral and gem has a story. I am pleased to be able to share the story of this crystal because it is my story, and because this is the image chosen for the poster to represent ISA’s STONE WISDOM Healing Arts Series. Find out more about individual circles offered by Quynn and other ISA Practitioners at our meetup calendar (linked above).

Friday evening took place at Storm Wisdom . Over 20 people journeyed together and shared their stories. Saturday workshop dove deep for the 17 people who chose to attend. Many amazing journey tales were spoken, both subtle, visionary, intricate, healing and expansive. The most important thing is that each person had an experience that brought them something beneficial in a personal way. I am always grateful and humbled to be step through the portal with so many courageous and expansive people :)

I grew up in a very different place, with different plants, different sky, and different spirits. Yet, I love this land for it has adopted me.

In these last days of 2012, I felt called to share my drum with the land that has opened to me slowly each year, to thank it for all the kindnesses shown in every season. I have seen sudden and subtle changes occur in this sacred place. These images were taken by me, with self-timer on my camera. I propped the camera on the ground, and then 10 seconds later these images were captured, then I drummed. Thank you place.

Each of us has an indigenous heart, even if we are far away of our ancestors. Love the land where you are.

There is a place in the desert outside of Tucson, Arizona, where I go for quiet. I sleep in my van (motel Q) and I work on projects that can/need to be done in Nature. The sky is dark. The sight is far. The vibe is calm. Birds, wind, stars are all good teachers.

It is also higher elevation than Tucson ( it gets colder), so sometimes during winter, we stay in town instead of having a short reprieve. This week, three days before winter solstice 2012, is one of those times. It is cold. In lieu of physical travel, I share images from this place I have gotten to know for 12 years.
